Mayor visits Our Shop

We were delighted to recently welcome the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Mayor, Dr Nik Johnson to Our Shop together with a team from the Plunkett Foundation and Cambridgeshire ACRE last Friday.

The visit, on September 22, was aimed at promoting the support available for community projects like Our Shop through the area’s Market Towns Programme. This includes expert advice, as well as small and large grants for community groups looking to set up a community-owned business, that could include retail, cafés, pubs, meeting rooms, co-working facilities, allotments, and accessible green spaces.

Held up as a great community success story, thanks to the work of villagers, volunteers and staff past and present Susie Middleton from Plunketts said “To be able to host the mayor at such an inspiring shop, which really shows how community-ownership can work for the benefit of local people was just fantastic”.

We’re pleased to report that all the visitors loved the shop and no-one left empty handed!

Well done to all our lovely volunteers and staff for helping us to be selected to showcase what a community can achieve.

Many thanks to Duncan Smith for the photography – check out our social channels for more photos.
